Week 3 - The Week of Gigz

HEY MY PEOPLE!!!!

Guys, let me tell you something. BEING A MISSIONARY IS THE BEST THING IN THE WORLD. GOT IT?? It is so fun. Its so hard, like so hard but it really is the work of God and I'm humbled that I have the opportunity to serve a mission.

Okay so last week I mentioned that I was having a really hard time with my district. After P day on Wednesday, I really didn't want to see the elders like at all. But we witnessed a miracle! There was a group of our elders sitting in a circle talking and for some reason I started listening to them. They were talking about one of the elders girlfriends and how he felt like she was his first convert. The spirit was so strong and I went over there just crying to them telling them how awesome they are. All 12 of us got in a big circle and started talking about why we were on missions. THE SPIRIT WAS SO STRONG! oh my gosh I just bawled. We were all bawling and just felt like brothers and sisters. I love them so much and I am so thankful for the miracles I witnessed with them. I have become so much closer to them this week which is so amazing and such a huge blessing.

I'm going to dedicate a paragraph to gigz. Gigz is Hermana Facey but lots of people here call us giggles 1 and 2 because all we do is laugh when we're together haha. She has been a huge miracle here and honestly my best friend here. We are so close! The girls in our house are getting really close and I almost always have a girl sitting on the end of my bed talking to me, but the best is when Gigz and I are talking. I'll send tons of pictures of her this week haha I don't think I have any with like anyone else haha.

The language is coming along decently this week! Tomorrow I'm taking a fast from English and only speaking Spanish. Please pray for me! I'm working really hard and just trying to be better every single day.

I had a really cool experience this week my friends. I wrote a letter this week about homesickness. I gave it to a member of the presidency and asked them to give it to the other missionaries when they feel homesick. I'll attach a picture of it in this email. Anyway, last night we were sitting in devotional with the whole CCM and they read my letter! It was a really cool experience because so many missionaries came up to me and told me they were just crying about it. I am so so SO humbled that I can help others. Hard times aren't fun, feeling homesick really isn't fun, but God will always allow us to help others through our experiences. I know that.

Things with my comp this week have been a little harder haha we are just really different, but different is good! I'm learning to be patient and look at life a little bit differently! Thats good! Thankfully I have gigz when things get really rough haha. But everything is okay! She works so hard and overall, we're doing awesome.

We're going to the temple today and I'm so excited! I can't wait to hear a session in Spanish!

I wanted to share something that I was reading this week in my personal study. We listened to a devotional from Elder Holland and he talked about John 21, so thats what I read! this is the chapter after Chirst's death where Peter goes fishing with the other apostles. They don't catch anything all night and then they see a light on the shore and Christ tells them to cast their nets on the other side of the boat and they catch so many they cant pull them up! When Peter realizes it's Christ, he jumps out of the boat and swims as fast as he can to him. When all of the apostles arrive, Christ had prepared breakfast for them and had it waiting.

I had tears rolling down my cheeks when I read that. The Savior of the world had things to do, but he knew His apostles were tired and likely hungry. So, he makes them breakfast. I LOVE THAT!!! Christ asks them to give up fishing so this has been my moto this week

I'm giving up fishing, it's time for me to feed sheep.
Fishing is like being at home, its comfortable and familiar. But feeding sheep IS SO MUCH BETTER! I get to gather Christ's children and I am so thankful for that.

I love the Lord my friends, I love His gospel. I love the CCM, I love Spanish!
Please send me letters, and thank you to everyone who send me letters and packages this week! I love you all so so SO much!

MISSIONARY!

HI EVERYONE! I'M A MISSIONARY!!! I want to keep my emails really real because I want to be able to look back one day and remember that this was all real and so you guys can understand how missionary work really is.  Tuesday was super hard because I had to say goodbye to my family. There is literally nothing harder than that. The flight was like SO long hahaha. The longest five hours of my entire life and I'm not even kidding. I slept for some of it but mostly was just kinda like "what in the world am I doing?" we got here and the airport took forever and then we came to the CCM! It is so beautiful here and people love to shoot each other hahah I hear gunshots like all the time it is so classic.  Wednesday was the hardest and longest day of my life. We wake up at 6:30 which is insane and work all day. I was doing okay in the morning and then I just wanted to go home. I was SO homesick and had a total breakdown. it was HORRIBLE. I told my branch president I ...

REMEMBER HOW IM AN ARGENTINE NOW???

Hi everyone!!! IM IN ARGENTINA!!!! I got here really early on Tuesday morning and then life just got real haha. Im in an area called Zarate, it is so poor and humbling, I have never seen anything like this in my life. This week was literally so cold haha I wore tights and sweaters and a coat everyday, but now its warming up so im so happy about that! Let me tell you about my area. I walk on dirt roads all day and see cement houses. We visited an investigator this week who lives in the craziest house I have ever seen. It is like so so tiny and just cinder blocks and cement. She has 4 kids and her niece is living with her so they have 6 people in their tiny house. Oh and 5 dogs like everyone else. I just cried because I wanted to hold the kids and tell them I loved them. When they kissed me on the cheek, I dont think I've ever been happier.  We have an amazing investigator named Melina. We have her baptism interview tonight and I am so excited! She is so amazing...
